Heartrate isnt showing up on the watch and other apps

The heart rate shows up on my heartrate app on my watch but not in hyperate and idk how to fix this issue since I got this watch 6 days ago for my birthday and dont know that much about watches yet. It doesnt show the bpm all it says for the bpm is -- instead of numbers.
