Won't show up as a source

Hey! Sorry you're hitting this , let's get it sorted. 🙂 A few quick questions: **1.** Which operating system? Windows, macOS or Linux? **2.** Do you get any error popup when OBS starts? Something like "The following OBS plugins failed to load"? This one matters a lot it tells us whether OBS is finding the file at all. **3.** Could you send me your OBS log? This is the most helpful thing by far: Help → Log Files → Show Log Files → open the newest one → paste it here or upload the file. It tells me your OBS version and exactly what happened to the plugin. **4.** Which file did you download, and where exactly did you put it? (the installer, or the ZIP?) Also, one quick thing to check: is your OBS a normal install, or portable / Steam / Flatpak? Those store plugins in different places. Where the files need to end up: Windows: C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit\obs-hyperate.dll plus C:\Program Files\obs-studio\data\obs-plugins\obs-hyperate\ macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins/obs-hyperate.plugin Linux: ~/.config/obs-studio/plugins/obs-hyperate/bin/64bit/obs-hyperate.so plus the data folder next to it ⚠️ On Windows, make sure you didn't accidentally create a nested folder — the .dll has to sit directly in 64bit\, not in 64bit\obs-hyperate\. And to be sure we're looking in the right spot: in OBS, click the + under Sources — the entry is called "HypeRate Heart Rate Input". It's a non-visual source, so it won't render anything on canvas; it just holds the connection. Thanks! With the log I should be able to tell you exactly what's going on. 🙏

Great question and your instinct about two OBS folders is exactly right. 🎯 Your log tells me the answer: OBS scanned its plugin folder and listed everything it found there, and obs-hyperate.dll wasn't among them. You also got no error popup. That combination means OBS never even saw the file so it's not blocked or broken, it just landed in a different OBS folder than the one you're actually running. **How to find the OBS folder that's really running (this is the reliable way):** Start OBS Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager Find obs64.exe → right-click → Open file location That opens ...\bin\64bit\ — now go up two folders. That's your real OBS root. In that folder you should see obs-plugins and data sitting next to bin. That's where the plugin has to go. Then install it there. I'd use the ZIP rather than the installer, so you can see exactly where everything lands: obs-plugins\64bit\obs-hyperate.dll → into <OBS root>\obs-plugins\64bit\ the data folder's contents → into <OBS root>\data\ (so you end up with <OBS root>\data\obs-plugins\obs-hyperate\locale\...) Close OBS first, copy, then start OBS again. The source is called "HypeRate Heart Rate Input" under the + in Sources. (If you'd rather use the installer: it works too just change the install path on the directory page to that same OBS root folder instead of the default.) ⚠️ About removing the other OBS folder: I'd leave it alone for now. It might be a Steam install or an old leftover, and deleting the wrong one is more hassle than it's worth. Getting the plugin into the running one is all you need. You can clean up later once everything works. Let me know how it goes! 🤙

The Heartbeat (camera shake) and Heartbeat Glow effects are filters — right-click a source → Filters → +. Each one has an Intensity preset (Subtle/Normal/Intense) plus a style dropdown, so you can get a good look in seconds. On the BPM Display you can pick fonts/colors, or tick Use heart-rate zone colors to make it change color as your pulse climbs. 💡 Best tip: Both filters have a Test mode with a Test BPM slider dial in how everything looks at 90 vs 150 BPM without wearing your monitor.
