Sounds like the effect just isn't getting any heart-rate data yet.
**Quick checks:**
Did you add the HypeRate Heart Rate Input source and hit Connect?
Does its status say Connected with a live BPM? The filters do nothing without a pulse coming in.
On the filter, what's Start BPM set to? If your BPM is below it, it stays idle.
**Fastest test: **
open the filter, turn on Test mode and drag Test BPM up, do you see it react now?
If Test mode works but live doesn't, it's the connection.
If Test mode does nothing either, let me know which filter (Heartbeat / Heartbeat Glow) and send your OBS log. 🙂

oh my bad. I thought it pulsed no matter the BPM.

it is working when I drag the test BPM up. User error I guess. 🙂
